Welcome to the 2005 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?

Hot chocolate

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

He wraps them, unless they are too big...then they just get a bow.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?

White on both.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

No

5. When do you put your decorations up?

Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving, but I got a late start this year and didn't do it until the first weekend in December.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

I'm all about the side dishes.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?

I remember being at my aunt and uncle's apartment on Christmas Eve and insisting I saw and heard Santa's sleigh and reindeer outside.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

I'm not quite sure, but I do remember finding 2 big black trash bags of gifts in my parents' closet one year. I think I was 9 years old. So around that time.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

Yes.

10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him?

Usually chaocolate chip...that is Santa's favorite. And some carrots for the reindeer.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?

I love it!

12. Can you ice skate?

I tried last July at Ryan's birthday party, but failed miserably.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

When I was 5, I think, I got a baby doll with a velveteen face. She cried she you turned her on her belly. My Grandma told me she found her in the store saying "Mama" and knew she was the perfect "baby" for me.

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?

Family.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

Cookies.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Baking with the kids and wrapping gifts.

17. What tops your tree?

I have a gold ribbon.

18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving?

I love to give...but I won't lie and say I don't like receiving,t oo!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol?

I don't have a favorite, but I prefer the traditional carols. I can't stand the songs like "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer".

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?

I love the taste but never eat them. I love Peppermint Bark, so I eat them that way.

Yeah, so I haven't been around to update here in a while. Life got in the way, I suppose, and it is just the same old kids, school, football, practices, football, kids, clean the house routine. Nothing majorly exciting (except the fact that my oldest son is brilliant and incredibly talented...but I don't want to bore anyone with that. )

Here are some updated pictures from the past few months...

Tighe on his first field trip with school. Yes, my baby is in SCHOOL! He goes 2 mornings a week and absolutely loves it!

Ryan's school picture. He is in 5th grade this year and recently got ALL A's on his report card. His advisor told us he had the second highest report card in the entire middle school.

Ryan carrying my nephew Gage in the backpack...this only lasted about 3 minutes so I figured I would snap a picture. LOL! Gage weighs a TON!

Tighe and I on Halloween...

A friend and I on the set of The View last week...

My "baby" turns 10 years old tomorrow...

Please excuse me while I  take a stroll down memory lane...

10 years ago...a pair of very exhausted first-time parents. I can't believe how skinny John was!

Our little "turtle baby", as my sister used to call him...

Starting to fill out a bit at 12 weeks old...

Look at those rosie cheeks....

My sweet 1 year old...

Age 2...I loved that silky blonde hair and chubby cheeks...

John and a very sick Ryan (with Nuk firmly planted in mouth and "yellow blankie" in hand) on his 3rd birthday...

My 10 year old and me...

Happy Birthday, Ryan!

This morning we woke up to what we *thought* was pouring rain outside (even though it was sunny). John went downstairs and stepped into about 2 inches of water. The teeny tiny hose that runs to the fridge for the water and ice maker had a crack in it and we have extensive water damage in our kitchen, hallway, diningroom and most of the finished side of our basement. The resoration company came out and extracted what water they could from the floors and we now have massive fans and dehumidifiers all over the basement and first floor. They will need to run constantly for 72 hours. They will come back tomorrow to rip out my kitchen floor. The adjuster from the insurance company will be here (hopefully) on Monday. Water poured through the basement ceiling all over the treadmill, couch, and many, many toys. We'll need a new ceiling in the basement. I am not sure about the carpets yet. The couch will be trashed.

I just don't even know how to feel.
